I have this "thing" with beauty products that I am going to share with you. I don't like using "better" brand named products for mundane everyday use. The kind you find yourself reaching for daily, like foundation or lipsticks. I don't know where this annoying trait stems from and I feel it strengthen more and more as I age. I just really despise how quickly a $70 bottle of foundation empties when I find myself resorting to its use, twenty-four seven for banal tasks like going to work or quick ventures to the supermarket.
And because of this, they always end up depleted at the most inappropriate of times.
Now, don't take this as me being a brand snob because I'm not. Well, not really. I have my favorites and I stick to them like glue. I'm annoyingly loyal and a creature of habit like that. I don't rush out to try new and different products weekly or even monthly because I have curiously sensitive skin and the majority of product out there just doesn't work for me. In fact the majority of of high street brands cause nothing but dehydrated havoc on my skin.
Surprisingly Garnier has been good to me over the years. I've always found something that works well for my skin. Like their (long discontinued) "Fresh" range which saw me through my teenage years until the onset of my twenties when I discovered NARS. So when my interest spiked over the wave of BB creams saturating the market, I decided to turn to Garnier once again, which thankfully turned out to be a most wise investment.
If you're still unaware what exactly a BB cream entails, it's a simple tinted moisturiser. It adds (depending on your hand) a light sheen and glow to your skin whilst also moisturising. It's like a foundation sans the irritable dryness. There are even some which contain added SPF sun protection. And I prefer those above all else because the sun is not our skins friend, no matter how gorgeous that tan is on you, the sun is its worst enemy. For me I've been pleasantly content with this BB cream. It's wonderful on my skin; seemingly gliding effortlessly without unnecessary palaver. A lightweight formula that doesn't feel heavy or encumbering. Which would no doubt make it incredibly ideal for the dreaded sultry red summer that has been predicted for us Aussies.
I'm curious, has anyone else tried or use this or any other BB cream in general? Leave your thoughts for me to peruse below.

Hi, I have tried this BB cream before and I liked it, but right now I am using Laura Mercier tinted moisturizer and I am in love with this one. Have you tried it?

No, can't say that I have V but I will look into it for sure xx
DeleteI have used the Garnier one but it's not my favourite. It does the job I guess, I just find it clogs up my skin a bit, I breakout when I use it, where I don't with my regular BB cream :) Since I wear BB cream most of the time (except the days I'm in the office when it's full makeup) I prefer something a little lighter.
ReplyDeleteAway From The Blue Blog
I kind of get where you're coming from. Sometimes I feel like my more expensive products are more suited for "fancy" events, haha. I don't normally wear foundation anyways though, so I guess its not too bad x)

I'm a massive budget beauty fan ( total opposite haha) and adore the garnier BB range for lazy make-up days! I also swear by the under eye roll on!

I've heard goof things about the eye roll on. I might have to try it. One day xx
DeleteI've been on a hunt to find a good BB cream for dry skin- summer is coming up and I don't want to use my foundation in the heat
ReplyDeleteCandice | Beauty Candy Loves
You could try this one lovely. From some of these comments however there are mixed opinions on it. I do have sensitive and somewhat skin, more so on my nose than elsewhere and find it ok. My skin is also not that prone to breakouts so they might play a factor too xx
DeleteI really like the Garnier BB Cream <3

Garnier is a great drugstore brand and their bb cream is awesome I just try an anti aging one my friend said is never to early but it does cover and makes the skin looks amazing like I put primer on it. Great review on an amazing product.
ReplyDeleteIt is never too early Jackie. I actually should look into it myself. I just hope they have an anti-aging one for sensitive skin! xx
DeleteI am loving the Laneige BB Cushion currently! Have you tried out that one yet?
ReplyDeletehttp://www.theavantguardian.com
No I haven't, I'll have to look out for it then xx
DeleteI used to use this when i was in college, maybe I'll try it again if you liked it :) I currently use NARS foundation
ReplyDeletewww.samanthamariko.com
I use NARS too, but I prefer to use a "cheaper" BB cream for lazy days and keep the better stuff for going out and such xx
DeleteI love Garnier! I have yet to try a bb cream though, which I really want too!

Sonia, I agree with your regarding drugstore brands for everyday use since is what I do too. Im glad this work for you, you know in general Im little difficult when it comes to BB creams as many of them didnt work well on my skin, but if you are finding them good I also suggest u to try the CC ones, I prefer them! xo
ReplyDeleteI'll look into it Lilli. I probably didn't really explain this too well in this post hahaha. My first, kinda, product review involving skin. I definitely should have mentioned how this is on my skin and how my skin is and stuff. Not just that it's sensitive but that it's pretty good in that products don't make it break out. I'll remember to make it more comprehensive next time though xx

ReplyDeleteI totally get where you're coming from, I like to save my 'better' higher end makeup for special occasions too. I love the idea of BB and CC creams but I can never find any in a shade that matches my pale skin- ugh I hate it!

Well if you don't need it definitely don't buy it Naomi! I remember being able to just walk out of the house with bronzer. I can still do that somedays but I prefer a little more coverage these days xx

yes, i've tried many. all of the drugstore brands. i quite like this one.
ReplyDeleteI tend to be a brand/product loyalist as well. If something works, why not stick with it right. I've heard great things about Garnier products but somehow I've never really tried them. I'm more of a fan of Asian BB creams because they have better coverage and wear for me.
ReplyDeleteRowena @ rolala loves
YES! Completely agree. At the same time I feel like sometimes I'm missing out by not using other products. Then again, why spoil a good thing?! xx

DeleteYou make me curious about the Garnier BB cream. I have a sample of Dr. Jart's BB cream and I find it to highlight the patchy dry spots on my face. No matter how much I exfoliate and moisturize, my skin continues to be dry. The BB cream makes my face look splotchy and so much worse! I need a SUPER moisturizing BB cream to avoid that I think. Thanks for the review!
ReplyDeleteI have to admit, when I have those patches anything I wear seems to cling to them regardless of cost. I've found REN Evercalm range to help with those patches FYI xx
DeleteThis is very good to know, thanks for sharing! I haven't tried bb creams before but they sound so interesting

I really loved this but now i favor a cc cream from an Indian brand called lakme instead

I tried the Garnier BB cream when they first came out and hated it. It was so oily and sticky. I've heard nothing but good things with their change in formulation, though.
ReplyDeleteConnie | Sponsored by Coffee | Etsy
Oh wow. I had no idea of this nor that they improved formulas. Makes total sense then ;o)
DeleteI'm a HUGE fan of BB creams and I prefer them to foundations. Garnier has one of the best BB cream that I've tried, I may venture and try other brands but I always come back to it.
ReplyDeleteps: You're not the only one who hate using high end brands for everyday makeup, I am the same and just find it to be a complete waste of money.
Shireen | Reflection of Sanity
<3 good to know Shireen. Turns out there are a few of us here who do the same xx
DeleteI'm kinda old school and stick to my beauty products which work for my skin for ages. I've heard a lot about BB Creams and always curious about it when in the drugstore. Gotta try this one by Garnier! Agree with you on expensive beauty products, Sonia! I'm using mine only for special occassions.

I stick to my faves too Ira. It's hard not too, especially if your skin is fairly particular like mine. When you find something that works, you never want to let it go! xx
DeleteI haven't tried this BB cream but overall it sounds pretty awesome. I can relate about high-end items especially if I don't use them up in time. :]
ReplyDelete// ▲ itsCarmen.com ▲
Oh gosh I feel you on the having to replace something you use everyday and it's hella expensive. My two main makeup loves (foundation & concealer) are expensive so sometimes when I run out I just can't be bothered to pay to rebuy so I always have a drugstore back-up that I can use.
ReplyDeleteI've never tried Garnier brand at all, so maybe I should try a BB cream.
Z · HELLOZAUNI.COM
It really can add up. And for me I always find they run out right at the worst moments too. xx

I love Garnier BB cream! It's the perfect weight and texture!
ReplyDeleteWishes & Reality
I can completely understand where you're coming from with regard to using the more expensive products for 'best', though sadly I'm doing the opposite and watching money wash away with my cleanser each night. Ugh! Anyway, to answer the question, I've never used any BB cream before, though I'm certainly interested in doing so as I've seen so many positive blog reviews on those who have tried one and loved it. Hope you're well Sonia :)

Ahh well, cleansers and moisturisers are a different story Gabrielle. I do the same. They all tally into the hundreds of dollars no less too but it can not be helped. xx

I tried the garnier bb cream, but I guess the one in my country has a bit different formula thus my skin is not happy with it. It caused a major break out on my skin :/ Hopefully I can find suitable bb cream from the drugstore for me. By the way thank you so much for the sweetest comment on my blog dear <3

I know what you mean, Sonia! I have more drugstore or Jap/Korean brand skincare and cosmetics that I use daily despite having more high end counter brands. I can't imagine using the higher end and expensive ones on a daily basis and would only use them occasionally. We do not have Garnier BB cream. Only their lightening complex.
