As the weather on this side of the world cools significantly, the other side is bracing for warmth, sun and sand. And though I adore the cold, those grey skies and rainy days, when pops of blue constantly invade ones feed you can't help but yearn for a little sunshine. Even if you seemingly despise that obnoxious radiating ball of fire. I don't know about you guys but right now it seems like everyone is travelling overseas; and by overseas I mean Europe. And I don't just refer to bloggers, famous Internet kids and Instagramers. I'm talking about your neighbours, friends and family. They're all over there right now and you? Yes, you? Stuck over here wallowing in envy. Perusing their happy snaps of enjoying the warmth and gelato and revelling with dashing Europeans all while combating and navigating those treacherous cobblestone lined streets; a stilettos enemy number one.
If there's one thing I enjoy doing on a rainy day it is to sit by an open fire with a Dostoyevsky resting on my lap as I become overly immersed by notifications of others. Distracted with painted scenes of beach shenanigans, hotdog legs bathed by sunlight and sand and hand holding rainbow ice cream shots with remarkable works of architecture blending dully into the background. My imagination left to run wild with various concocted schemes. And over the weekend I did just that, only one thing remained constant and that was a divine romper I spotted on ASOS last Friday. A plunging neckline, black in colour and a skort bottom. Were there not a more magical combination for travel? Slight practicality, comfort and effortless style combined. It is one of those rare pieces you come across and think, heck yes I'll take that to St Barts! And to Paris and Barcelona too. Oh and that Guadi walking trail you've spent most of your youth mapping out. All playfulness aside I do believe this is one hell of a knock out piece, be it used for travel or brunch with your friends. What do you think? Is your imagination creating all kinds of crazy right now too?

That is a lovely playsuit! I like the cut-out detail :)
ReplyDeleteMy sister is in Europe at the moment so I can relate to the wishing you were there! She's having an amazing time, I'm very jealous :) Won't be long until our summer rolls around and the Europeans are just as jealous of us, haha!
Away From The Blue
Ha! So true Mica xx
DeleteI completely agree that everyone seems to be travelling to Europe these days, and my growing envy is not at all pretty, haha! The piece you feature in this blogpost is absolutely lovely, such a daring piece yet chic at the same time!
ReplyDeleteMay x | THE MAYDEN
I would very much like to be in St. Bart's, yes, please! The romper is adorable. I was just on ASOS the other day browsing, but then got distracted by the need for summer shoes! :) <3

We all find the best in those types of weather how to enjoy it at home. This sexy dress is stunning.

ReplyDeleteI am literally finding any excuse to escape this frigid temperature right now. My imagination has been running wild back to the days I was in Phuket enjoying the perpetual sunshine (the humidity not so much!). I love this romper, Summer needs to come back already so I can rock my playsuits! Xx

Well, I'm in Canada so it's seriously warm and sunny here but in few months time, I'll be freezing my tits off again when fall and then winter hits. LOL! It won't be as bad next year because we'll be heading back to Malaysia on 1 Feb and hopefully I'll handle the cold much better than last year.
ReplyDeleteShireen | Reflection of Sanity
It is odd to view seasons that are the opposite of yours or be in a place with one climate (me!) It would be so interesting to be in a Nordic country as well in a time of extended day or night.
ReplyDeleteIf I could pull off this romper, Id totally do it! In the meantime, it's midi skirts and flowy tops for me!

I'm not sure how I'd feel about those extended days over there. I would like to experience one though, maybe in Amsterdam. I don't think I'd like to constantly endure one. How much would it mess with your head though! xx
DeleteI wish I could be traveling overseas to Europe as well but for now I'll just have to settle for an NYC staycation which isn't all that bad when the city isn't blazing hot and humid. That romper is divine. I'm loving the cutout detail and skort bottom.
ReplyDeleteRowena @ rolala loves
Oh no it isn't! I feel like living in NYC is always like a vacation. Then again this is just my idealistic view and it is probably way off lol xx
DeleteThis dress is so amazing! I'm searching for something similar for a wedding I need to attend..
ReplyDeleteI love the cut outs of it! Very sexy! Dostoyevsky? Uhh, Sonia! That's a heavy stuff to read, girl! Hahah! My mum was a teacher in Russia and have had to read / teach this all the time! ;-)

I definitely agree with you about people mainly traveling to Europe. Ever since summer started I know 3 families that have gone somewhere in Europe for a vacation. I'm hoping to travel there one day too, for now, I guess I'm gonna have to fight through this heat.

Hey Sonia, I nominated you for the versatile blogger award, check out my latest post. http://fashionablyidu.blogspot.com/
ReplyDeleteIs the whole world in Europe now? Damn we are not the whole world. My sis was in Italy and France last week and was texting me about whether I need any Prada. I don't know of anyone around me in Europe right now. Europe at this period reminds of my Italy trip which sure was enjoyable but really really scorching. I would love to visit Europe when it is much cooler! I hope you keep warm as much as possible. We are experiencing really scorching weather but the occasional rain last week made everything cool and bearable for that week.
ReplyDeleteJo
Jo's Jumbled Jardinière
I feel like the whole world has up and left for there Jo. It seems like everyone knows someone whose traipsing in Europe. My parents are over there right now and they tell me it is scorching. Can't say I envy them too much hahaha! xx
