NOW PLAYING: Midnight dawn - Mt Warning
It's getting cooler down under and I must admit I'm a pretty happy chappy right now. Layering up, chasing online sales and hunting down coveted thick and chunky knits to wriggle into. The heavens opening up with rain, a softness that trickles and sprinkles outside on the window panes. Turning up the heating and finding that one spot I can crawl into and unwind with my trusty MacBook or treasured novel. And all with my loyal puppy by my side at that, copious puppy cuddles I'll get smothered with, wanted or unwanted.
But then there's also all these lovely spring and summer edits other bloggers are posting about. Sharing their upcoming travel itineraries and plans for the summer, filling my mind with dreams of the blue Mediterranean Sea, cobblestone paved paths and grand Moorish architecture and romance. And as much as I live (and I mean live) for the cold and get excited for this time of year, I can't help but feel slightly envious of the other half of this globe who will be moving into warmer months. I'm conflicted and very much a hypocrite. Complaining about the woes of a hot Australian summer only to fall smitten with a longing for the mild European sun. I know, I'm a total nut job and perhaps it's just a simple case of being born on the wrong side of this planet so don't feel too sorry for me kids. It happens every year, I go through the same motions and feelings and I'll get over it soon enough. And who knows, maybe I'll even get to indulge in this European fantasy of mine, sometime in the next few weeks.
xoxo

Over here in Europe, we are awaiting summer but I still have the heater on! Wish I had summer plans yet...
ReplyDeleteYou are too funny but honest I guess we all go through the same, in the winter I wish for summer and in the humid uncomfortable days of the heat I wish for winter so I guess we all nuts for feeling the same. He he

I can't wait for summer, right now it feels like winter again :(
ReplyDeleteThat is so funny! I feel the same way, love Fall for so many reasons including layering, boots and darker color clothing and then I miss summer and bright colors and floral patterns. What a struggle!

Ohh the shark tooth pendent comes from Givenchy? I never knew!! Yes you can get several other less expensive options to achieve the same look :) sometimes big name brands start a trend but then we don't necessary have to shed out that much money. Good thing about fashion these days is loads of "inspirational" options :)
ReplyDeleteAgreed! xx
DeleteFunny post, Sonia!!!
ReplyDeleteCan't wait for summer!!!
Kiss
Sonia, I get you, is also what I feel when I read post from bloggers who live in the other side of the world and here is freezing! Here is finally coming the summer but is still pretty chilly you know. Hope you can travel over here btw and realize your European dreams :) Oh puppy cuddles, sounds so sweet!:) Kisses! xo
ReplyDeleteAww thank you Lilli! xx
DeleteThe collage is great. I love all the inspiring pics you have collected and I can relate to them. The Hemingay's quote made me think.

I'm the same :). Getting jealous of you guys when you hit the summer season as soon as it's over for the rest of us :). But there's such beauty in every single season, so that's all right :). I can't wait for a bit of heat here, and when it finishes, I'll travel all the way around to your place ;).
ReplyDeleteHope you're having an awesome week too :*!

Hehe, it's funny, I do the same! It starts to cool off and I get excited about knits and scarves and boots, and then I see all the summer outfits from the bloggers in the northern hemisphere and start to miss the warmth again!
ReplyDeleteGrass is always greener! :P
Away From Blue
While I was reading this, I thought: "Wait, isn't she always saying how she hates the heat?? What's with this plans-for-the-summer-and-Mediterranean-Sea talk??" But then you admitted that you're a hypocrite so now I feel better - admitting it is half the solution.:P And I LOVE that Hemingway quote! He was such a cool cat, I love his works and his words. It's so true, the best people are risk-takers. Dare devils. Not pussies.
ReplyDeleteSay hi to your pooch for me, babe!!
xoxo
Hahahaha! Yeah, I'm such a hypocrite! xx
DeleteLOL!!! No you are not born on the wrong side of the planet! It's supposed to be Spring over here but it's still cold and it's raining all the time. Summer is not much better! Two weeks it's beautiful and than it's sh.. again! Winter is horrible! Freezing cold -10 degrees and worth! Yeah I guess we all want what we can't have. Sonia I feel uninspired too but yes for your beauty posts!! I'd love to read them :D

ReplyDeleteI am actually very, very excited for summer as the cold months are the least favorite thing for me- I love the snow, but I hate how cold it gets in winters in Latvia (-30C is no joke!)
www.callmemaddie.com
Wow I didn't even realise it could get -30 in populated places! Antarctica maybe but Latvia! Oh em gee Maddie! xx
DeleteHahaha! I am totally the same way! I get so excited for the beginning of the season for the change of weather and fashion, then after a few weeks I get over it and start wishing for the opposite weather! We'll just have to live through each other when we start missing the opposite season since we are on opposites sides of the world! ;)

I also love the colder months but it's almost summer where I live. can't wait for fall and winter ;)
ReplyDeleteI on the other hand, prefer warmer temperatures, and especially spring weather. I've never experienced the Australian Summer, but the Greek one is also too warm to handle. But I'm happy that it's just around the corner. I was tired of the cold months.
ReplyDeleteThank you for commenting on my blog :)
If it weren't for beautiful winter fashion and the scientific necessity of it all, it would always be summer in my world

So I have a theory, because I always find myself facing the same longings, that it's all just a desire to be able to share in those joys with the rest of the online community. I never even thought about it until I began reading blogs and pinning madly on pinterest - suddenly the rest of the world comes to life and we want to be a part of it! Well, I do anyhow. Either way, I'm kinda of looking forward to snuggly knits and ridiculous scarves (and all your beautiful winter fashion instagrams)! Rhi :) xx
ReplyDeletePS. I really like this collage. When we meet up, can you show me your processes with these? Or would that be giving away a trade secret? ;P
