The weather down under of late is far, far from adorning oneself in faux fur but nonetheless I can't stop ogling the fuzzy sartorial delights online. Curse you Pinterest. All this trawling for fuzzy coats is also making me overly eager for my La-La land soijorn coming up next fortnight.

But let me make one thing clear, I'm talking about the faux kind. I don't know about you guys or where you stand on the matter but for me real fur creeps me out. And aside from the ethical and inhumane practices that transpire behind the scenes draping the skin of a dead animal upon my shoulders is just gross.

Braga was a town which unexpectedly surprised and delighted at every single turn. Truly a most unexpected discovery teeming with opulent architecture and flair. Most sadly crumbling structures with magnetic facades remaining. It was so much more than a bustling mini metropololis of monotoned tiled apartment complexes I'd been so accustomed to seeing upon the outskirts of town. Outskirts that we mainly skimmed past on our way to other points of interest, away from the town.

The Rua Dos Arcos. It took us some time, wandering and a few conversations with the locals attempting to locate this place. A place only hours prior did we learn about after hearing a recanted tale about my late grandfather. I had suspected such a place was coined only by himself and it turns out such suspicions were correct. Not its actual name but a name my grandfather coined for this place. A place that left quite the impression on him, perhaps creativly at that. In this tale it told how enamoured he become with this stretch of road after a mission to a nearby church to collect a bell for their village church. He was that enamoured every time he found himself going to or through the town he insisted on passing through. When I first heard this story I wondered if this was a place he drew inspiration from. And after setting eyes on such a site I myself no longer have any doubt on such questions.

When art and fashion collide something magical happens. Much like a chemical reaction. And these tongue in cheek collages curated by Kalen Hollomon are no exception. There is something truly marvellous in mixing awkward compostions with clippings from some of our favorite campaigns.

I kind of prefer these babies over the real deal. Sorry Ms Delvegne. How about you?

Peace,

Although the fashion industry is a wonderful place of creative genius, collaboration and Cara Delevingne videos, it does often take itself a bit too seriously. That's why when renegades like Kalen Hollomon come along, it's fun to reflect on the frivolity.
Holloman uses real, high-end fashion campaigns and seamlessly subs in everyday people, revealing the artificial glamour of fashion advertising. Kind of why designers like Rick Ownes and companies like United Colours of Benetton often opt for real, interesting people in their campaigns over models.
It's very sweet and very funny.

But when the melancholy fit shall fall

Sudden from heaven like a weeping cloud,

That fosters the droop-headed flowers all,

And hides the green hill in an April shroud;

Then glut thy sorrow on a morning rose,

Or on the rainbow of the salt sand-wave,

Or on the wealth of globed peonies;

Or if thy mistress some rich anger shows,

Emprison her soft hand, and let her rave,

And feed deep, deep upon her peerless eyes.
